Notary Public

Roland Wadge

Dr. Roland Wadge is a Notary Public with over 25 years of experience in the legal profession. He graduated with a Notarial Diploma in 1995 and earned his Doctor of Laws degree in 1997. That same year, he obtained his warrant to practice as a Notary Public, marking the beginning of his legal career in Malta.

Dr. Wadge has been an active member of the Notarial Council for the last 25 years, currently serving as its President. His first term as President began in 2007 and lasted for four years, during which he played a key role in legislative reforms. One of the significant reforms he contributed to was the modernization of notarial laws in Malta (2011 onwards), aimed at improving the functioning and efficiency of the profession. His involvement in legislative drafting during this period and thereafter had a long-lasting impact on the legal framework surrounding notaries in Malta.

In addition to his current responsibilities as President of the Notarial Council, Dr. Wadge was recently appointed as the rotational Vice-President of the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE). The CNUE is the official body representing notarial professionals in Europe, and this new role underscores his influence and expertise on a broader international level.

Dr. Wadge has also contributed to legal education in Malta, having served as a lecturer in Fiscal Law at the University of Malta for several years and has also published in the legal publication “Id Dritt” by Gh.S.L in 2015.

Beyond his teaching role, Dr. Wadge has been involved in drafting several pieces of legislation, particularly in relation to the notarial profession. His understanding of the legal system and his practical experience have made him a key figure in Malta’s legislative processes, especially through his ongoing involvement with the Notarial Council.

Approaching almost three decades of experience, Dr. Wadge remains committed to his profession. His recent appointment as Vice-President of the CNUE marks an important milestone in his career, expanding his influence beyond Malta. Nevertheless, he continues to approach his responsibilities with steady involvement and a focus on practical solutions for the challenges facing the legal profession.
